Generating your link is one on-chain transaction. It records that this wallet has opted in as a referrer and emits an event Forest Road can read. It costs a small amount of BNB in BNB Smart Chain testnet network fees, which your wallet will show exactly before you sign. Forest Road charges nothing for it.

The transaction moves no tokens, grants the contract no access to anything you hold, and gives it no ability to spend from your wallet. The registry stores two facts and holds no balance.

How it works

Rewarded on participation, not on headcount

Forest Road computes any referral reward off chain, from the participation the wallets you refer actually sustain over time. A wallet that binds and then does nothing is worth nothing. That is deliberate: once anyone can become a referrer, headcount is trivial to manufacture, and time-weighted participation is not.

One hop, and permanent

A wallet binds to one referrer, once, for good. Bindings never chain into a downline, and they are never rewritten, including when a link is later closed to new bindings. Nobody, administrator included, can re-point an existing binding.

The registry holds nothing

This contract records two facts, that an address opted in as a referrer and that another bound to it, and stops there. It holds no balance, calls no vault contract and cannot move anything you own.

Named codes such as ?ref=exampleare issued by Forest Road so that a partner's link need not be an address. They cannot be claimed or self-assigned, and once issued they can never be pointed at a different referrer.
